Northland Forest Products, Fort McMurray - The Lumber Mill. Here is a video I shot in 1990 when I was teaching shop in Fort McMurray. I used to take the students out to work at the mill as part of their forestry course. . This small mill is about 10 miles north of Fort Mac. The video took 21 years to finally get done-- Well actually I lost all my notes and scripts so this is as good as it will get. It really isn't anything worth working hard for now as it was shot on a VHS tube camera. The original goal was for some kind of dialogue but you will have to get along with a chronological silent movie. . The equipment in this video is no longer there as a fire burned the mill in November of 1996. New state of the art equipment has replaced the oldschool hardware and the wastage you see in the video is now almost nonexistent. Young Howard is in the video for a quick cameo (bonus points if you can find him). Now, as president he is likely too busy for that job.
